The carboNZero certification programme ensure accuracy and consistency of businesses’ emissions measurement, reduction and neutrality claims. CarboNZero certification guides businesses through a process measuring all emissions and putting in place strategies to manage and reduce their footprint. This measurement and management are independently audited and certified each year. CarboNZero certifies businesses take the additional step of offsetting all remaining emissions through the purchase of verified carbon credits. The programme is certified to international standards.

We also work with tourism operators who do not hold the above accreditations or labels. However, these operators, who we chose to support are nothing short of extraordinary when it comes to their commitment to sustainability. They are indeed committed to preserve the environment they evolve in, they are dedicated to engage their guests in a meaningful and educative experience and they are often a strong player in local conservation and community projects. They are some of our favourite partners and we guarantee they will have a big impact on your travel experience!

They would often be committed to two New Zealand initiatives, Tiaki Promise and Sustainable Tourism.

Tiaki Promise

Tiaki means to care for people and place. The Tiaki promise is a commitment to care for New Zealand, for now and for future generations. New Zealand is precious and everyone who lives and travels here has a responsibility to look after it. By following the Tiaki promise you are making a commitment to look after it, to act as a guardian, protecting and preserving our home. Nau Mai, Haere Mai ki Aotearoa. Welcome to New Zealand.

New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment

This is a voluntary self-reporting programme of 14 sustainability commitments led by Tourism Industry Aotearoa.
Greenz Travel abides by these commitments and most of our partners too.

Our Commitments

We embrace both the Tiaki promise and the Sustainable Tourism network but as responsible business owners, we also practise what we preach and aim at running a business that is sustainable for the environment, the people and our local communities:

  • We do not print unless absolutely necessary. We encourage e-documents and if we must print, we use recycled paper and non-toxic ink. We only have e-business cards.
  • We work from home.
  • We encourage fair wages and life/work balance.
  • We educate visitors about New Zealand’s cultural and behavioural expectations.
  • We believe in consuming less but better.
  • We have prolific veggie gardens.
  • We limit our waste as much as possible. We recycle and compost.
  • We limit our water consumption and use rain and spring water.
  • We support the local economy and shop at farmers markets.
  • We contribute to restore, protect and enhance our natural environment through our work collaboration and volunteering projects.
